Top Tourist Parks of Australia biggest mainland caravan park chain at 200 member parks Top Tourist Parks President Clive Johnson has been in caravan parks since he was 10 |
With more than 200 member caravan parks Top Tourist Parks of Australia is now Australia’s biggest mainland tourist park chain.
CEO, Bill Pycroft, said today that with about 100,000 Club Card members more families were now among Top Tourist Parks of Australia regulars.
“But older travellers also appreciate the balance of the friendly service our member tourist parks provide”, he said.
While the business model now typical of quality parks throughout Australia reflects investment with a commitment to good returns Top Tourist Parks of Australia retains a welcome which is found in smaller, usually family owned or managed caravan parks.

Top Tourist CEO Bill Pycroft gets down to business |
“Certainly Top Tourist has a business-like approach to everything we do, but we always look for benefits we can return to our members”, Bill Pycroft said.
“This is the Top Tourist Parks of Australia difference”, he said.
In her book Top Tourist Parks of Australia, The First 20 years, Alison Huth nails the point.
“Being a member of Top Tourist Parks means you (Alison is a Top Tourist Park owner) are part of a national identity. Customers see you as part of the whole”.
Alison Huth records that on December 24, 1987 Top Tourist Parks of Australia Ltd was registered in Victoria. There were 26 member parks in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.
Top Tourist and its first directory was launched at the 1988 Adelaide Caravan and Camping Show.
How to cope with changes in the industry is a constant challenge for caravan park owners and managers.
Many Australian caravan parks are in prime locations so development can take a prime location out of the caravanning industry.
Which means chains like Top Tourist can be challenged to keep quality locations in their Top Tourist Parks of Australia mix.

Top Tourist Parks destinations have unique locations |
“Location is the number one priority”, Bill Pycroft said.
“And it certainly takes the right people to run successful Top Tourist Parks which rely on referred business”, he said.
A straight down to business approach is not always a good fit for the Top Tourist product in the caravan park environment.
The friendly Australian identity which is found in quality product like Top Tourist Parks is the point of difference which triggers referrals.
Family Parks has moved to the second highest number of member parks in Australia with 165. The chain also has 29 holiday parks in New Zealand.
BIG4 is third with 163 member holiday parks.
